Tamil Nadu Polytechnic Admission 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification: Candidates must have successfully completed the 10th Standard (SSLC) or possess an equivalent qualification. Only those who meet this requirement as of 01–08–2025 will be eligible for admission. A permanent community certificate for Scheduled Tribes (ST) must be obtained exclusively from the Revenue Divisional Officer (R.D.O.) of the candidate’s native division, the Collector of their respective districts, or the Personal Assistant (General) to the Collector of Chennai. Only the permanent community certificate will be recognized, and it must bear the State Gopuram Seal to be considered valid.
Age Limit: There is no age restriction.
- Individuals who adhere to religions other than Hinduism or Sikhism are not recognized as members of a Scheduled Caste.
- A Scheduled Caste member who converts to Christianity will be classified solely under Backward Class Christian and not as a Scheduled Caste member.
- A member of a Scheduled Tribe will retain their status regardless of conversion to another religion or descent from a convert.
- Candidates claiming Scheduled Caste status through re-conversion must provide comprehensive details regarding the date of re-conversion and whether they are recognized by the local community members as belonging to the claimed community.
Marks will be allocated based on the duration of service in the pertinent Engineering sector. Applicants must have been employed within a radius of 90 kilometers from the institution to which they are applying for admission in Tamil Nadu. However, staff members of Government offices and Public Sector undertakings located in Thirunelveli and Palayamkottai are exempt from the distance requirements for admission to Government Polytechnic, Tuticorin.

Tamil Nadu Polytechnic Admission 2025-26 Selection Process
Selection Procedure for HSC/ 10th Standard + 2 years I.T.I.: Candidates will be selected based on a comprehensive ranking of all applicants. The selection process is determined by the total marks obtained in the +2 Examinations.
For those who have completed the 10th Standard along with 2 years of I.T.I., selection will be based on the total marks achieved in the qualifying examinations, limited to a maximum of 10% of the approved intake.
