According to the official KVS admission regulations, the age range for students from Class 1 to Class 10 is two years. For example, the minimum age for Class 1 is 6 years, while the maximum age is 7 years. It is crucial to understand that children who are currently enrolled in Class 1 during the academic year 2026–27 may also qualify to reapply for Class 1 in the subsequent academic year.

What happens if my child’s age is even one day above or below the eligibility limit?
KVS guidelines are very strict. Even a single day difference will lead to ineligibility. For example, the minimum age for Class I is 6 years.
A child born on April 2, 2020 will not be eligible for Class I in the academic year 2026–27, since the cutoff is April 1, 2020.
Are there age restrictions for admission to Class XI?
There are no age restrictions for admission to Class XI, as long as the student is applying in the same year in which they pass their Class X examination.
What about admission to Class XII?
For Class XII, there are no lower or upper age limits as long as the student has pursued continuous education after completing Class XI. Breaks in education are not permitted.
What documents are required as proof of age?
For Class I, a birth certificate issued by the competent authority responsible for registering births is mandatory. For Classes II to X, the date of birth recorded in the transfer certificate (TC) from the previous school is accepted.
How does the KVS online admission portal check age eligibility?
The KVS online admission portal is designed to automatically validate the entered date of birth. If the DoB does not fall within the specified range for the chosen class, the system will stop the application process immediately and will not allow you to proceed further.
