RTE Admission 2026–27: Eligibility Categories

Maharashtra RTE Eligibility Calculator 2026-27F: or admission under the RTE quota in the academic year 2026-27, applicants are divided into two categories with distinct income criteria: [Know more Admission Rules for 2026]

Category A: SC / ST / Divyang

No annual family income limit.
Eligibility based solely on valid:
- SC/ST caste certificate, or
- Divyang (disability) certificate with ≥40% disability.

Category B: General (EWS) / OBC / VJNT / SBC

Annual family income must be ₹1,00,000 or below.
Applicants from OBC / VJNT / SBC must also belong to the Non-Creamy Layer.
Required documents:
- Income certificate (≤ ₹1 lakh), and
- Non-Creamy Layer certificate (for OBC/VJNT/SBC).

This two-tier structure ensures that the most marginalized children—whether due to social identity or economic hardship—are prioritized for free admission in private unaided schools under the RTE mandate.

Age Limit Chart with DoB for All Classes [2026-27]

DoB: 1 Jan 2020 → Falls in 1 July 2019 – 31 Dec 2020 → 1st Standard

DoB: 1 Jan 2021 → Falls in 1 July 2020 – 31 Dec 2021 → Senior KG

DoB: 1 Jan 2022 → Falls in 1 July 2021 – 31 Dec 2022 → Junior KG

DoB: 1 Jan 2023 → Falls in 1 July 2022 – 31 Dec 2023 → Nursery

Important Edge Cases

DoB: 1 Jan 2024 → Age on 31 Dec 2026 = 2 years 11 months → Underage (needs full 3 years for Nursery)

DoB: 30 June 2019 → Age = 7 years 6 months → Over-age (max allowed = 7y 5m 30d for 1st Std)

DoB: 1 July 2019 → Age = 7 years 5 months 30 days → Just eligible for 1st Standard
