Delhi RTE EWS Admission Guidelines 2025-26: This document outlines the comprehensive guidelines for admissions to private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for children belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), disadvantaged groups, and children with disabilities for the academic year 2025-26. The online registration for entry-level classes, including Pre-School Nursery, Pre-Primary Kindergarten, and Primary Class-1, in all recognized private unaided schools in Delhi for the 2025-26 academic year will commence on February 3, 2025.
It is mandated that 25% of the capacity in entry-level classes at all private unaided recognized schools be reserved for children from the Economically Weaker Sections, disadvantaged groups, and children with special needs in the local area, ensuring they receive free and compulsory education until the completion of elementary education.
Who qualifies for EWS RTE Admission in Delhi for the academic year 2025-26?
Eligibility for the EWS category: A child is eligible if their parents have a total annual income of less than 5 lakh from all sources.
Eligibility for the DG category: 22% of seats (EWS and DG) are reserved for children belonging to the SC, ST, OBC Non-Creamy Layer, transgender individuals, and children living with HIV. Additionally, 3% of seats will be designated for children with disabilities (CWSN – Children with Special Needs) within the 25% seats allocated under the RTE quota.
Delhi EWS RTE Admission 2025-26 Selection Process
The Directorate of the Delhi Education Department has established an online seat allocation process for the EWS, DG, and CWSN categories through a computerized lottery system for entry-level classes in all privately unaided recognized schools, excluding minority institutions, in accordance with the RTE Act of 2009.

The Department of Education will request data regarding the declared sanctioned strength of private unaided recognized schools to be submitted through the District Directorate of Education (DDE) for each district. Once the seat allocation is finalized, the information will be published on the DoE website, and online applications for admission under the EWS, DG, and CWSN categories will be accepted for all eligible schools in Delhi. The Zonal authorities within each DDE district will conduct a thorough review of the application forms and documents submitted by EWS, DG, and CWSN candidates. The results will be announced following the computerized draw of lots conducted by these teams.

Delhi EWS Admission 2025-26: Prohibition of Capitation Fees and Donations
The Delhi Education Department has explicitly outlined in its notification that no capitation fee, donation, or any other form of contribution may be solicited from children admitted under the EWS, DG, and CWSN categories that surpasses the officially established fee determined by the school. Under the Right to Information Act, no educational institution or individual is authorized to request a capitation fee from parents during the admission process of a child. Any school or individual found to be in breach of this regulation and who collects a capitation fee will incur penalties, which may include a fine of up to ten times the amount of the capitation fee collected.
