The Education Minister of Tamil Nadu, Anbil Poyamoli, announced that schools will reopen on Monday, June 2, 2025. There is a circulating rumor on social media suggesting that the reopening will occur on June 10. The summer vacation for schools in Tamil Nadu commenced on April 30 and will conclude on June 2.
This summer, the ‘Agni Natchathiram‘ period has been marked by significant rainfall throughout Tamil Nadu. In certain areas, particularly in the Coimbatore district, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Theni, Tiruppur, Dindigul, and Kanyakumari districts, heavy rain has been reported. Should these rains cause disruption in these regions, there may be a delay in the reopening of schools.
The Tamil Nadu Education Department conducted board examinations for the Higher Secondary class from March 3 to March 25, encompassing essential subjects across various streams. The HSC Plus One examinations were administered from March 5 to March 27, while the SSLC written examinations occurred between March 28 and April 15, following practical assessments. The results for SSLC and HSC Plus One were announced on May 16, whereas the Plus Two results were released earlier on May 8. As the academic calendar continues as scheduled, students and parents are eagerly awaiting further updates regarding any adjustments due to weather conditions.
