First Priority Categories for Class 1 Admission to KV 2025-26: For the academic year 2025–26, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan headquarters has released new, unified admissions standards for all 1,240 KV schools spread across India.

Central Government Workers: An individual who holds a government-approved post in a substantive capacity and is compensated by the Consolidated Fund of India is considered a regular employee. Additionally, members of All India Services, including the IAS, IPS, and IFoS, fall under this category.

State Government Workers: An individual who is paid from the State Consolidated Fund and possesses a substantively authorized post by the State Government is considered a regular employee.

Frequent Transfer Cases: An employee is only deemed transferred if they have been formally reassigned by the appropriate authority from one site or urban agglomeration to another, requiring them to live at the previous place for a minimum of six months and traveling a minimum of 20 kilometers.

Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings: Depending on whether they are affiliated with the State or the Center, organizations that receive all of their funding from the government, or in which the government owns a majority stake (50 percent or more), are categorized as either Autonomous Bodies or Public Sector Undertakings.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, which is supported both financially and administratively by a government project, public sector undertaking, or institute of higher learning, is known as Project IHL KV.

KV School under the Civil and Defence Sector

The following order of priorities will be adhered to when granting admissions to Kendriya Vidyalayas under the Civil/Defence Sector:

  1. Children of both transferable and non-transferable Central Government employees, as well as children of ex-servicemen.
  2. Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning affiliated with the Government of India.
  3. Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of State Government entities.
  4. Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning associated with State Governments.
  5. Children belonging to any other category, specifically those not included in the aforementioned categories 1 to 4.

Please note that admission preference for wards will be determined by the number of transfers experienced by the parents over the past seven years.

KVS under the Project Sector and Institutes of Higher Learning

Admission is open to postgraduate students and faculty working on long-term research projects, as well as the children of employees of the Project Sector or Institutes of Higher Learning that support the Vidyalaya. Regular Council of Wardens (COW) personnel, retired employees’ offspring, those on deputation to the appropriate Project/IHL, and directly employed contractual staff are also included in this. The contractual employees who work for agencies, outsourcing companies, or other third parties will not be given any special treatment during the admissions process, it is crucial to remember.

  • It is essential to highlight that priority in admission will be accorded to the children of serving employees, employees on deputation, retired employees, and directly hired contractual employees by the Project/IHL, in that specific order.
  • Additionally, children of both transferable and non-transferable Central Government Employees, as well as children of ex-servicemen, are included in the admission criteria.
  • Furthermore, children of transferable and non-transferable employees from Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning under the Government of India are also eligible.
  • Children of transferable and non-transferable State Government Employees, along with those from Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning of State Governments, are similarly considered.
  • Lastly, children from any other category, specifically those not encompassed by the aforementioned categories 1 to 5, will also be eligible for admission.
  • It is noteworthy that preference in admission for wards will be determined by the number of transfers their parents have undergone in the past seven years.
